Our two locations, Whitby Montessori & Elementary School (WMS) and Lakeridge Montessori School (LMS), set the stage for a lifetime of exploring, questioning, and learning. Our dynamic School Programs provide students with REAL experiences throughout their educational journey … using REAL-LIFE materials, providing REAL-LEARNING opportunities, and challenging students to make REAL-WORLD connections.
12 months - 3 years
Casa Bambini and Pre Casa
During the first three years of life, children “live in the moment.” At LMS, our Casa Bambini and Pre Casa Programs respond to this developmental trait by focusing on providing students with REAL-LIFE learning experiences. Students are introduced to the Montessori Curriculum, through studies in Practical Life, Sensorial Education, Language, Mathematics, and Cultural Studies including Art and Music. Concepts are explored through hands-on materials that build a strong foundation, and encourage an intrinsic love of learning. The Casa Bambini and Pre Casa Programs are decisive entry points into our highly nurturing, child-centered educational environment, where individuality and independence are embraced.
3 - 6 years
Junior Casa/Senior Casa
Children, ages 3 to 6 years, are naturally curious and learn by touching, manipulating, and exploring the world around them. Lakeridge Montessori School (LMS) responds to this innate need by creating child-centered communities filled with REAL-LEARNING opportunities where children can grow and thrive. The LMS Casa Programs (Junior Casa/Senior Casa) invite students to further explore the Montessori curriculum as they continue their journey towards becoming capable, life-long learners. Studies include Practical Life, Sensorial Education, Language, Mathematics, and Cultural Studies including History, Geography, Botany, Zoology, Science, Art and Music.
Designed to meet the needs of our school families, the Before/After School Programs encourage children to explore natural learning opportunities through play.
Before-School Program 7:30am – 8:20am
The LMS Before-School Program offers students a fun, safe and social atmosphere to begin their school day.
After-School Program 3:30pm – 6:00 pm
The LMS After-School Program includes supervised indoor and outdoor activities (weather permitting) that enable students to participate in games, songs, arts and crafts and non-competitive sports.

A Montessori Philosophy
Dr. Maria Montessori discovered that children develop best in a prepared environment that allows them to exercise their natural curiosity, and provides them with opportunities for broad social experiences. Our mixed-age Montessori community provides children with many opportunities for interactions with children older, and younger than themselves, through programs that encompass a three-year age span. Children learn strategies for consulting and collaborating with others, and learn to respect each other’s individual differences and learning styles. Our approach ensures that children maintain a positive attitude towards the learning process, and each other, as they recognize their roles as leaders and mentors in the school setting.
